Vaalkrans

A Boer trench on the summit of a stretch of rising ground as seen from the British positions.

The remnants of a Boer trench running east-west. A visit to Vaalkrans quickly reveals that the area is littered with shattered rocks--the results of the extremely intense British artillery fire which was directed onto these positions.
